Mrs. Linda Watts resides in Leesburg, FL where she was a pre-school/kindergarten teacher for twenty years.  She has been actively involved in pageants for the past 40 years.  In 1986, she organized the Miss Leesburg Scholarship Pageant which awards scholarships each year to local students.  She is committed to stressing the importance of education through the scholarship program. All money for the scholarships is obtained through fund-raisers, ad sales and donations and requires year round effort.

As a retired teacher, Linda feels that working with the youth of Leesburg is an opportunity to teach the values of volunteering.  She believes that as it continues year after year it will have a lasting affect on many people. It is an invaluable learning experience for the students.  

 

Linda is the founder of Florida´s Hometown U.S.A., a non profit educational youth program that promotes volunteer community service for the youth of Florida.  Visit the website - www.FLHometownUSA.com

 

She is very involved in the City of Leesburg as a committee member of the Art Festival, the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Partnership.  Linda attends judge’s workshops each year for updates and has judged pageants in ten states. She also judged the Florida finals for Seventeen Magazine Cover Girl, J.C. Penney´s Model Search and Disney World’s Dreamers and Doers Program.


In 2011, Linda was recognized by the City of Leesburg for her 25 years of service to the youth of Leesburg and October 1, 2011 was proclaimed "Linda Watts Day".  She also received the Citizen of the Year Award by the Leesburg Partnership and was Grand Marshall in the Leesburg Christmas Parade.  She has received many honors and awards throughout the State of Florida ( listed on Florida´s Hometown USA website)

 

She and her husband, Allen, have two children and four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
